1. Is BugControl completely free?
The software is completely free of charge. "Completely free of charge" must not be confused with "completely free". BugControl is copyrighted software, not public domain software.
The software can be distributed as a whole by a third party provided it is free of charge also.
A third party may not incur income directly or indirectly from the software without prior written permission of Warelords Ltd.
The software and all its components may not be modified in any way nor translated entirely or partly without prior written permission of Warelords Ltd.
2. Which OS can I install BugControl in?
You can install BugControl in Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003 and Windows 7. This said, BugControl is a web application designed for running on a server operating system.
3. After uninstalling BugControl, I cannot delete the BugControl folders, why?
Before you uninstall BugControl, you need to stop the BugControl service.
Right click on the taskbar and select Task Manager to start the Windows Task Manager and search for two processes: tomcat5.exe and mysqld-nt.exe. End these two processes. You can now delete the BugControl folders.
4. Can I change the port number if it conflicts with previous installed software?
Yes, BugControl uses 9999 as default port number, but you can change it.
Please make sure you change the settings according to the instructions provided in BugControl Version 1_Readme.pdf, which is located in the root folder of the Setup.zip file you downloaded.

BugControl Core
1. Can I use other languages in BugControl?
Absolutely, BugControl supports Unicode which supports most languages. So feel free to use your own language.
2. The mail.properties file has been changed according to instructions but the red text "Autosend Mail has not been enabled. Please check Help to enable Autosend Mail." still shows, why?
You should restart the BugControl service. Then go to the Window Start menu: Start -> All programs -> BugControl version 1 folder -> click on StopService and then StartService.
3. I have added new members to the team, but they cannot receive the register emails, why?
It could be that the changes in the mail.properties file are not correct. Please make sure you change the settings according to the instructions provided in BugControl Version 1_Readme.pdf, which locates in the root folder of the Setup.zip file you downloaded. Pay particular attention to the port number. If the port is not correct then BugControl will not send automatic emails. Please ensure that you are using the right port with your MIS or ISP.
4. Can I associate people from outside my team to a project?
Yes, in Create A Project page or Modify Your Project page, you can assign individual resources to the project by adding email addresses in the option "Or Add individual user emails and assign a role:" You can also combine existing teams and individual users.
5. Can I change the teams or individuals after I have created a project?
Yes, you can change the teams and individuals in Modify Your Project page.
Go to Menu -> Your Projects -> Select the project which you want to modify -> Project statistics page -> Modify Project page. Then you can change the teams or individuals in this page and save the project. Only new reports will be affected by the change.
6. How can I see what bugs have been allocated to me for fixing?
In Project Reports page, all the Assignees’ addresses will be listed in the "Assignee" column. So enter your email address in the search field, and then click on the search button. All the reports that have been allocated to you for fixing will be filtered out. Alternatively you can sort alphabetically the column by clicking on the blue arrow in the Assignee column.
7. How do I display the data for a specific Build/version in the Project Statistics page?
Opening the drop down list in the first column will show the different Build/version already reported. Selecting "All" displays the data for all the Builds/versions together. Users can also check the break-down of Reports Status via the graphic mode on the right of the table.
8. How do I know which project should be completed first?
In the Your Projects page, sort the "End Date" column with ascending order. The projects which should be completed first will be displayed on top.
9. How can I export the project information?
In Your Project page, click on the Export button, a dialog box will pop up. If you have Microsoft Office installed, you can open the excel file directly and print it.
If you have not installed Office, then you can save the excel file and print it later.
10. How can I print in BugControl?
Click on the menu "File" on the top of browser. Select option "Print" to print the information directly.
11. Can I change a report source language?
Yes, but changing a report source language will only affect new reports (for archiving purposes, existing reports will keep their initial source language). Go to the Modify Project page, and add the new language in the source language list box. Save this project change.
If you wish to change the source language for an existing report, open the report, change the source language and save it.
12. How can I delete a project?
In Your Projects page, pay attention to the red icon in front of the project number. Click it and select yes, then you can delete the project. But be aware that it will not be possible to get the project data back after deleting it.
13. What is the field "To be fixed by" in the Create Report page used for?
"To be fixed by" field shows the team members’ emails assigned to the project so that the user can assign the report to a specific person – the assignee. You can only select one assignee to a report.

Each BugControl page comes with a Help screen – simply click on the Help icon located on the top right corner of each page. Alternatively you can watch the BugControl tutorial which covers most BugControl features.
